It's unlikely I'd have continued to the second book. Fortunately, I read the second book in this thematically linked series, 'Prince of Park Avenue' first and liked it a great deal because it did a nice job of character development, took the time needed to build the relationship and chemistry between the two main characters. Overall I found that book believable and romantic. I bought 'King of Wall Street' on the strength of 'Prince' but found myself largely disappointed.I found it difficult to connect with either Harper or Max and certainly didn't feel the chemistry between them to make the sex feel romantic rather than just obligatory and superficially titillating. That may have been due in part, to the crudity of the language, especially as used by Max. There is a substantial amount sex in this book that I found mostly boring. As crude as Max's sex talk was, Harper's was often whiny and petulant especially in the first one third of the book. As a consequence neither character was very likable.Bottom line: 'King' is more boring than engaging, more cliche than original and for me at least, a disappointment. Both books have a few overlapping characters, but are basically complete standalone novels.
I just loved this standalone so much. The story is beautifully written in dual POV. You know the story, two people not in the market for love, fighting the pull that they feel every time they see each other. Harper is hard headed, strong, independent and beautiful. Max is, well, what is Max? He's strong, sexy, successfully, charismatic, a fantastic father, a true family man, loyal, did I say sexy, handsome and a complete and utter God? Oh and did I say sexy as hell? I was hooked from the get-go. Light, easy, fun and flirty. A true sexy office romance to get lost in. Thank you Ms Bay.

I found this author on Facebook through a release event and decided to give one of her books a try. I am so glad I did. This book was one of my favorite reads this year!!After purchasing the book I decided to upgrade to the Audio version. Best decision ever!This story is told in a dual POV. Both narrators did an amazing job. Their voices were completely likeable and they told Max and Harper's story with so much passion that it was effortless to get swept up in the characters.This is a story about Harper Jayne who is trying to make it in the business world. She finally lands a job working for Max King, the King of Wallstreet, only to discover he's infuriating and nothing like she thought he would be. No matter what she does she can't seem to get it right when it comes to Max, however, she soon finds out, his boardroom skills are just as hard as his bedroom skills. Much to Harpers surprise, Max King just also happens to be Harpers new neighbor.As lines begin to blur and the likes of business meets pleasure, Max and Harper will have to make decisions that may not only jeopardize their careers but also their hearts.This was a beautifully hot read. Max was all alpha. Dominating with passion and wicked with his words, he made my panties melt, my heartbeat thump, and the butterflies in my tummy do cartwheels and backflips.Max King and Harper Jayne will have you begging for more!!I'm officially a fan of Author Louise Bay and cannot wait to read all of her books now.If you are looking for a dirty talking, pleasure filling, sexy as sin alpha, make sure you read King of Wallstreet. I highly highly highly recommend!! You can thank me later!
Max King is a successful business owner on Wall St. He is all business and is committed to being a single father. He always feels his two worlds should be separate until he meets Harper Jayne, his new Jr Researcher. Harper was raised by a single mom and has some daddy issues. She is all about her career and proving to her dad that she is successful without him.The attraction between them is strong. Can business and pleasure mix? Can both of them give up a little to be happy?Ms. Bay does not disappoint with this loving story. You get sass, bossy, love, friendship, adoration, and so much more.
Loved mr ' bossy, alpha male, single dad.... Max who falls for the new hire, 'Harper' she is not only beautiful & smart but she has sas!! Love these two as a couple! Both have never had a real relationship (Max had a daughter, Amanda) yet he never married - they stayed friends and did not get married just because of an unplanned pregnancy.. Harper has 'daddy issues' he just was not involved in her life, he worked a lot & couldn't stay faithful to one woman.. as Harper grew up, she felt he was just broken promises & try to throw $ for apologies.. Grace is Harpers bff, she comes from a wealthy family as well & understands Harper situation w/ her father all to well.. Yet, Grace has a better grasp on the relationship between max and Harper thank goodness because these two are full of 'drama, messy banter that will have you laughing, sexual tension, hot sex scenes! & so much more.. great stand a lone w a hea!!
I really liked this book. It is set in New York, and the people are Americans. I know this author is British, so every once in a while a British word or phrase would sneak in. American people don't say keen(like we are keen to do something), and we don't call a comisole/tank top a vest. It didn't happen often, just worth mentioning and didn't change how I felt about the book. Also, American kids wouldn't talk about school in semesters. They just say last year(meaning for the last school year). I thought this all happened in September, so it was the beginning of the school year, so I figured that Amanda was talking about when she was in 7th grade. But if she was 14, and it was September, she should have been in 9th grade.I loved how both Max and Harper both had perspectives and we got to hear how each of them felt. There were some sweet and funny parts. Amanda is very funny. The words flowed very well together and it was a lot of fun to read. I really enjoyed it.
