About the Author
Reiner Schurmann (1941 93) was a German philosopher. He was born in Amsterdam and lived in Germany, Israel, and France before immigrating to the United States in the 1970s, where he was professor and director of the Department of Philosophy at the New School for Social Research in New York. He is the author of three books on philosophy: Heidegger on Being and Acting, Wandering Joy, and Broken Hegemonies. Origins is his only work of fiction. He never wrote nor published in his native German.
Simon Critchley is Professor of Philosophy at the University of Essex, Directeur de Programme at the College International de Philosophie and Humboldt Fellow at the University of Frankfurt.
During his 39-year career, Levine logged 73,000+ hours working on films as a property master (or assistant) on 30+ feature films and countless episodes of television productions. Growing up in Hollywood, he took after his father, Allan Levine, a long-time property master who founded the well-known prop rental house on Venice Boulevard in LA, The Hand Prop Room.
